Opticians-on-wheels service makes optical care accessible to all residents across Merseyside & Cheshire
A Warrington opticians has launched a new home visits service, providing optical care, testing and treatment services across Merseyside and Cheshire.
Many residents across the region may be unable to leave their home unaccompanied due to a physical or mental illness or disability, limiting their access to basic optical services, such as testing and frame fittings. These residents are quite often the people who are most in need.
Specsavers’ new service reaches every corner of Liverpool, the Wirral & Warrington ensuring that everyone has access to eye tests and eye health services.
This November marks 10 years since Specsavers launched its home visit services which has allowed customers unable to reach a store’s physical location to access optical care in the community.
Ophthalmic Director of the newly launched Specsavers Warrington Home Visits service, Charlotte Supria, said:- ‘It’s so important to ensure everyone receives quality optical care, especially those who are most vulnerable. I’m excited to start this new journey helping the patients who aren’t able to come in to stores to receive the care they need.’
Since starting her career in optometry after qualifying 8 years ago in 2015, Charlotte has risen through the ranks, gaining much-needed skills and knowledge on the way to becoming the co-director of her very own optical home care team alongside Jonny Fullalove.
Charlotte and Jonny’s team consists of eight members, who work across the North West in both optical care and office roles, tending to those who aren’t always able to leave their houses.
With the latest in portable optical technology, this mobile team of opticians not only tests and prescribes the spectacles but also tests for an array of conditions, from diabetic retinopathy to the early signs of glaucoma.
Charlotte says:- ‘I am thrilled that I, along with the rest of the team, can travel across the region and provide services to those who aren’t able to visit an actual store. There are many places we cover that are remote. Not every care service or business will find themselves working in these small neighbourhoods and you may not find many stores either. The Specsavers Home Visit Service allows us to reach every area no matter the size or accessibility.’
