Former Wilko store in Southport begins journey to become a Poundland
AFTER announcing it had secured agreement with administrator PwC to take an option on a number of Wilko store leases, Poundland today confirmed the Wilko in Southport would begin its journey to becoming a Poundland this Saturday, 30 September 2023.
The former Wilko store at 36-40 London Street, Southport, PR9 0TJ will open on Saturday morning.
Customers will be able to find a range of Poundland favourites in store alongside any existing clearance items from its time as a Wilko.
Poundland retail director Darren Kay said:- “We’re pleased to be able to re-open so quickly in Southport – not least because our ambition is to provide job opportunities for former Wilko colleagues. Of course, we’re not yet in a position to offer our fullest ranges in the store, but we know customers will appreciate a store that’s open, trading and employing colleagues to one that’s got its shutters closed. We’d encourage customers old and new to come and say hello to their new Poundland team from this coming Saturday.”
Poundland intends to carry out a full makeover of the Southport store in 2024 so it can become a fully operational Poundland. var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-5165542-3']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'https://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); |
