FOR the 1st time, dogs in the Star Trekk 10k walk in Southport for Queenscourt Hospice this Friday, 8 May 2026, can wear branded bandanas!

They have been sponsored by local Slimming World Consultant Dee Wright who runs Slimming World Southport with Dee at St Simon & St Jude’s Church in High Park in Southport.

The Star Trekk 10k walk has become a popular way for dog owners to get together and walk their pets while supporting their local hospice at the same time.

Slimming World Southport with Dee Consultant Dee Wright said:- “I am looking forward to walking Star Trekk for Queenscourt Hospice once again. This year I have sponsored the doggy bandanas. For the 1st time dogs on the walk are wearing Star Trekk bandanas! There are small ones and larger ones available, depending on the size of your dog. The bandanas will be given out at registration for the dogs to wear on the walk. I have sponsored them - the bandanas will have ‘Slimming World Southport with Dee’ on them. They look fantastic! I will have some Slimming World Southport with Dee members walking with me. We’re all walking for a great cause - I think I have around 20-30 members who will be walking with me, but that could grow on the night!”

The final call has been issued for people wanting to take part in this year’s Star Trekk walk for Queenscourt Hospice

Southport will become a sea of yellow this Friday, 8 May 2026, as supporters of the charity take part in a fun 10k walk that starts and ends at Adventure Coast Southport.

A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said:- “It’s the final call - tickets close today! This is your last chance to be part of Star Trekk 2026. Grab your tickets before they close on Wednesday 6 May 2026, and join hundreds of walkers for a night of fun, community and fundraising for a 10k walk under the stars.”

In April, Queenscourt Hospice announced that it will be reducing its in-patient ward from 10 to 5 beds, as it continues to face financial uncertainty.

The news comes just four weeks after the hospice stated that it was being forced to consider reducing the vital services it provides for patients, as it continues to operate with a £2 million deficit.

The need for people to come out and support Queenscourt’s fundraising efforts is greater than ever, as our hospice marks 35 years since it was officially opened by Princess Diana in 1991.

Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides support for the people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby.

Since Star Trekk began 20 years ago, wonderful trekkers have raised over £1million.

The evening starts at Adventure Coast Southport with a fun party atmosphere where you can enjoy the pre Trekk entertainment, with the walk starting at 7.30pm.

People then head out along Marine Drive, over the Marine Way Bridge, past Silcock’s Funland, down Nevill Street and onto Lord Street, up Eastbank Street and Scarisbrick New Road, past Queenscourt Hospice on Town Lane, through Birkdale Village and then back to the start to collect their medals.

There is a different coloured Star Trekk shirt each walk, with yellow the colour for this year.
