THE brand new Coffee King on Lord Street in Southport is now officially open!

This family-owned independent business is proud to expand to Southport town centre with their newest venture which opened on:- Thursday, 30 April 2026 - just in time for the Big Top Festival arriving during May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Coffee King CEO Sean Le Tissier and Mayor of Sefton Cllr June Burns cut the red ribbon and carried out the official opening, welcoming the very 1st customers.

Speaking at the launch event, Sean Le Tissier said:- “Welcome to the official opening of our new Southport Coffee King store! I would like to thank everyone - I’d like to thank the Mayor of Sefton for coming, everyone else for coming. I would like to express my deep, deep gratitude to the team for making this real. We are a British company and we want to bring some of our traditions to the high street and really hope we will get lots of support in Southport - I think we will! Thank you to all our new customers, I am sure you will be pleased.”

Mayor of Sefton Cllr June Burns said at the launch:- “I’d like to give the best of luck to everyone at Coffee King. I am sure you will all enjoy it. I am sure it will be a great asset to Lord Street.”

The new VS Jewels & Workshop opened a few doors away on Lord Street during the same week; the new climbing gym on Lord Street will be opening later this year.

In nearby Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street, the new Drishti Point Yoga has had its official opening launch while the Hair Lounge Collective has its Open Day this Saturday too after its recent transformation.

There is so much positive investment happening on Lord Street, just on this stretch alone.

The new Coffee King is housed within a beautifully restored former bank, which was previously home to Monsoon, Patisserie Valerie and 92 Degrees.

They’re really proud of the quality of their carefully sourced coffee. There’s food available too, and ice cream.

The floor to ceiling windows here and the views across towards Monument Square are stunning, while there is plenty of outdoor seating.

The Coffee King building had a unique, striking, marble exterior, fabulous lighting, and ornate high ceilings, creating an elegant and memorable space in the very heart of the town.

The café is situated in a unit between Occulo Lounge and Parkinson’s Books. Grab a book and come in for a coffee.

Coffee King says it aims to become a true community hub for Southport, a welcoming space to meet friends, enjoy a chat, get to know the team, and always leave with a smile.
