2 events to look forward to, a:- Free Military Vehicle and a Quiz Night...
THE Formby Royal British legion in conjunction with the Military Vehicle Trust will be staging a:- FREE Military Vehicle Display, on:- Saturday, 17 April 2026, at:- Formby Pool, on:- Brows Lane, Formby, L374ED.
The Military Vehicle event will run from:- 12 noon to 4 pm. The event will see large and small military vehicle from a wide range of eras, like World War 2 and the 1980's. The event will also have displays for you to look at and a small service of remembrance. The event honours those who took part in the:- 'Nivelle Offensive' also known as:- 'The Battle of Vimy Ridge.' This battle began on Easter morning:- 1917. Amid sleet, mud and shellfire. Soldiers of the Canadian Corps fought their way up the ridge to take the high ground overlooking the Douai plain. This stunning victory followed years of failed attempts to retake the ridge, and months of planning and preparation for the operation. The ridge had fallen into German hands during the initial advances of:- 1914. When the Canadians attacked, they directly faced around:- 8,000 entrenched German defenders, not counting another:- 2,500 in reserve, and many more to the rear. Also, on:- Thursday, 30 April 2026, the Formby Royal British Legion will be holding a:- Quiz Night and Raffle, in conjunction with:- The Hightown Club, on:- Thirlmere Road, Hightown, Merseyside, L383RQ. The night will be hosted by Quiz Master Andy Johnston, from:- 7.45 pm to 8 pm. Tickets are sold on the door, on the night, and at the Military Vehicle event, from the Royal British Legion stand. Tickets will cost just:- £2. ID to prove you are over 18 might be required to prove your age, as this is a licensed venue. COMMENTS (0)
