HESKETH Park Lodge Care Home proudly opened its doors to family members, friends and the local community on:- Friday, 27 February 2026 for a heart-warming Art & Crafts Exhibition celebrating the remarkable talents of its residents.

The exhibition showcased an array of beautiful creations produced by residents from the residential, nursing and residential dementia communities. Guests were treated to a diverse collection of artwork and crafts, reflecting a wide range of techniques, styles, and personal stories.

Among the standout exhibits was a remarkable creation by resident Margaret Metcalf, 106 years young. Her piece demonstrated patience, creativity and love. Despite being crafted from simple cardboard, it was elevated into something truly precious and keepsake-worthy. The accompanying display card read, “Finding beauty in the overlooked,” a phrase that perfectly captured both the materials used and Margaret’s inspiring spirit.

Another beautifully decorated vintage-inspired memory box by resident Edna Hilton also drew admiration. Rectangular in shape and raised on small decorative gold feet, the piece carried an elegant, almost antique furniture aesthetic. Its romantic floral theme gave it the feel of a treasured heirloom, blending craftsmanship with sentimentality.

New resident Sheila Bartlett, who has been part of the Hesketh Park Lodge community for just one month, also proudly displayed her cross-stitch work. A talented dressmaker with a love for needlework, Sheila has already embraced daily activities with enthusiasm. A touching reflection of family, creativity and belonging.

The home was also honoured to welcome special guest Tony Evans, a Liverpool-based sculptor known for his powerful copper and bronze works. Tony, whose pieces have been exhibited at venues including Chester Cathedral and are held in the permanent collection at The Atkinson Art Gallery, shared heartfelt reflections during the event.

Speaking about the exhibition, Tony said:- "Being invited here today reminds me of happy memories of my late brother David, who was an artist and used to attend art workshops and give tutorials with care home residents. I know it gave him great pleasure and he found it very rewarding. It just shows that it doesn’t matter what age or lifestyle, if you do something artistic or creative, it gives you great satisfaction. Opportunities like this don’t come along often, so I would like to give a big hand to Hesketh Park Lodge and all of the staff for finding the time to put on this truly valued exhibition."

For many in attendance, the event was deeply moving. Watching residents, some of whom are courageously overcoming significant health challenges, stand proudly beside their creations was a powerful reminder that creativity has no age limit. The exhibition celebrated the message that no one is ever too old to create something meaningful and treasured.

Emily Caley, Manager at Hesketh Park Lodge, said:- "This exhibition is a true celebration of our residents’ talents, individuality, and spirit. Seeing their confidence shine as they shared their work with loved ones and the community has been incredibly special for all of us."

The Art & Craft Exhibition stands as a powerful testament to the home’s commitment to encouraging self-expression, nurturing confidence and strengthening community connections.
