Southport Colour Run returns for 2026 with places now open for fun family fundraising day for Elsie's Story

THE town’s most colourful and crazy fundraising event returns to Southport Rugby Club for its 3rd year on:- Saturday, 6 June 2026, after its sell-out success last year.

All funds raised will once again go towards the Elsie’s Story charity.

The day is hosted by Broadley Developments and will be hosted by Trevor Ford from Mighty Radio.

Tickets cost £20 per adult; £10 per child; or £40 for a family with 2 adults and two children (plus booking fee). You can book here.

Registration takes place from 1pm with the race starting from 2pm at:- Southport Rugby Club, Waterloo Road, Southport, PR8 4QW.

Southport Rugby Club Chair Enda Rylands said:- “The Colour Run was established by Sue Astwood at the club and last year was a phenomenal success. Our aim is to make it even bigger and more colourful this year. Southport Rugby Club has a strong history of community fundraising and welcomes the whole community to come and join in.”

The 3km Southport Colour Run sees competitors of all ages run through a fun obstacle course with 2 laps of the rugby club, going over jumps, through bouncy castles and across the try line - while volunteers around the course try and cover them with as much powdered paint as possible!

Hundreds of runners taking part last year raised £6,205 for the Elsie’s Story charity and organisers hope to raise even more this year.

Elsie’s mum and dad Jenni and Dave Stancombe were among those who took part.

Also running were several teachers, parents and pupils from Elsie’s former school, Farnborough Road in Birkdale, where headteachers Adrian Antell and Jennifer Sephton were taking part in a 15,000ft skydive on the same day.

Places sold out weeks in advance for this much-anticipated event.

Runners began dressed in clean white T-shirts, but left as a mix of red, yellow and blue with a fun atmosphere as spectators watched from the stands, the side of the pitch and the clubhouse.

Mighty Radio in Southport kept people entertained with their outdoor stage.

The event was organised by Sue Astwood from Southport Rugby Club along with Elsie’s Story.

The Southport Colour Run is among several exciting fundraising events that the local families and local businesses are invited to support throughout 2026, after Southport Rugby Club and Southport & Birkdale Sports Club teamed up to support two charities rooted at the heart of the Southport community in 2026 - Elsie’s Story and Southport Soup Kitchen.

While their missions differ, both organisations share a common purpose — offering care, compassion, and practical support to children, families, and vulnerable individuals when they need it most.

2 of Southport’s longest established sports clubs will host a year of unforgettable fundraising activities, with many opportunities for people to get involved.

You could take part in the Southport Colour Run; attend a Charity Dinner; or support the Elsie’s

Story Charity Football Match, with more exciting events to be announced.
