Our HMSDefender Crew Interviews at the 80th Anniversary Battle of the Atlantic - #BOA80
WE interviewed 3 of the crew of HMS Defender (D36) which was berthed alongside the French Navy's FS Bretagne (D655) at the Liverpool Cruise Terminal, in River Mersey (UK). The 2 warships were in the River for the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic Commemoration Events. We filmed this footage on 26 May 2023.
Did you know? HMS Defender is a Royal Navy state-of-the-art T45 destroyer, referred to as D Class or Daring Class. The Type 45 destroyer fleet is the most advanced warship ever built for the Royal Navy. Commissioned in 2013, HMS Defender has covered around 275,623 Nautical Miles, and since She was built:- 287,236. She has visited 31 different countries, spending 1,109 days, 19 hours at sea. It is no wonder why She and the other Type 45 have been referred to as:- "the backbone of the Royal Navy." The vessel is:- 142m long and 20m wide, with a displacement of:- 6,000 tonnes.
