A public consultation has launched to get views on a new cycle lane connecting up Liverpool’s waterfront.

Liverpool City Council is asking the public for their feedback on the proposed permanent cycle lane, located on Bath Street and Waterloo Road

The proposal is key to the City region’s Active Travel programme and will also feature new and improved footpaths and pedestrian crossing facilities, with the replacement of a roundabout with a new 3-arm junction to Princes Dock at William Jessop Way.

The works will fulfil an important missing link in the City’s cycling network, connecting the existing facilities on The Strand with the Regent Road cycle lane creating a 4-mile-long route.

This continuous walking, wheeling and cycling link which will run along the City’s historic waterfront, will also improve connections from the new Everton Stadium with the City centre.

The scheme will also upgrade an area known as the Bath Street Triangle which will improve links between Princes Dock and the business district.

The 4-week long consultation runs until Monday, 24 March 2025 with information and a feedback form available online.

As part of the consultation, the Council will be hosting events for the public to view the proposals and ask questions.

These will be held at RIBA North on:- 11 March (3pm – 7pm) and 15 March (10am – 2pm) 2025

Following the consultation, any changes will be made to the design and the proposed measures will be signed off by the Council which will then issue a tender to procure contractors to carry out work on the scheme.

It is expected the works will be started by late summer 2025, completing in April 2026.
