Interview with Carlo Marsilli, about TV Channel La7 filming in Southport a news report about fake news
WE had a quick interview with international TV reporter Carlo Marsilli, who was filming for the Italian TV Channel La7, in Southport, UK, asking about effects of fake news, on:- Friday, 17 January 2025.
Carlo is currently doing a series of investigative reports into how events like the stabbings in Southport are being hijacked by individuals, groups, and some political organizations, and the dangers the fake or misleading narratives have on a community. Carlo was in the seaside Town to hear in person about the effects of fake news and misinformation that has been and is still being circulated has had on the area, following the hideous murders and stabbings that took place in Southport, on:- 29 July 2024. During his visit to Southport, he was able to hear first hand how fake news and misinformation quickly spread on social media, and had been and is still being used as:- 'evidence' by many bad actors to vindicate their own ideologies. He also heard about how the fake news and information has lead to a new worry that the perceived cover-up and the abundant amounts of misinformation about the incident that is still being pushed online, could lead to more problems. His investigation is part of a wider investigation the TV station is doing, into the effects of fake news and information being pushed online, especially by the likes of platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) Carlo feels we should be especially worried about the growing interference in world politics from the likes of Elon Musk, since his takeover of X in 2022, especially now, with his new role within the US Government, next to Trump. Carlo told us that he picked Southport as he feels Elon Musk's behaviour on X, in reaction to the killing of 3 young girls and the stabbing of 10 other victims, highlights the growing issue he posses, along with other well known names who pushed and continue to push fake information about the incident. He thinks we should all take not as to how devastating the actions of a few can be, and we should take what happened in Southport in relation to the fake news and information as a warning for the future, not just in the UK, but worldwide!
