CBI responds to North West Mayoral Election Results
ON the election of the Liverpool City Mayor, Damian Waters, CBI Regional Director for the North West, said:- “Congratulations to Steve Rotheram on his re-election as Liverpool City Mayor. After a difficult few years for people and businesses across the area, there’s really no time to waste in getting the local economy firing once again. Delivering jobs, opportunity and prosperity has to be at the very top of the new mayor’s ‘to do’ list. That means pressing ahead with key economic priorities like removing barriers to commercialising R&D and providing meaningful support for local startups and scale ups; helping SMEs to break through the growth ceiling. The Liverpool City Region focus on life sciences within its new investment zones also presents a great opportunity for job creation in knowledge intensive industries.”
Also in regards to the election of the Greater Manchester Mayor, Damian Waters, CBI Regional Director for the North West, said:- “Congratulations to Andy Burnham on his re-election as Greater Manchester Mayor. The Greater Manchester economy has outperformed the national economy since the Covid pandemic but we cannot afford to sit on our laurels. The mayor must use this mandate to relentlessly promote and pursue an ambitious, long term regional economic vision that recognises existing strategic assets and clusters, inspires inward investment and tourism, and differentiates Greater Manchester’s narrative in a competitive domestic and global market.” COMMENTS (0)
