IF you did not get a chance to go to Liverpool City Council's 35th Anniversary Commemoration of the Hillsborough Tragedy, yesterday, (15 Apil 2024) this is our video coverage of the proceedings.
97 people died at Sheffield's Hillsborough stadium in the semi-final FA Cup tie between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on:- 15 April 1989. In Liverpool, on the:-15 April 202, the City remembered the Hillsborough 97, who had been unlawfully killed 35 years ago in the disaster. The footage on our video shows the official Civic Commemoration, that was held behind Liverpool Town Hall, in Exchange Flags, along with some footage of the Hillsborough Memorial just after the commemorations took place. The footage also captured the sound of the ship's horn on the Mersey Ferries, who were also marking the tragedy. It is worth adding that Liverpool FC also held commemorative events and an unofficial event was held at the Hillsborough Memorial at the same time. In the footage, you will see the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Mary Rasmussen leading the act of remembrance. We also filmed the full 2 minute silence along with the Town Hall's bell being tolled 97 times in tribute to each victim, along with the ending of the procedings, the song You Will Never Walk Alone.
