UPDATE - British Musical Fireworks Championship Friday Night Cancelled

THE Friday night (22 September 2023) British Musical Fireworks Championship event has been cancelled due to the consistently recorded high winds on-site.

We are told that this move to cancel Friday Nights proceedings is on safety grounds and cannot be helped!

Sefton Council said:- ”This consistent high wind means we have a very strong likelihood of having to stop the show during the event, an early decision was made after consultation with the Competition Clerk, a wind specialist, and the competitors."

Sefton Council continued:- "This decision to cancel has not been taken lightly. The early cancellation will allow those heading to the show to change plans, and it will also give the competitors time to safely de-rig their shows."

Sefton Council has added:- “Unfortunately, the tickets for Friday Night cannot be used for tomorrow, and all tickets purchased will be refunded automatically. Details about refunds will be on our website:- VisitSouthport.Com over the next coming days.”

Sefton Council has apologized for any disappointment, but stresses:- "Safety is our highest priority."
