Letter to Editor:- "Join the nationwide call for fencing companies to help hedgehogs!"
THE People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS) have recently launched a brand new campaign, inviting fencing companies to help our struggling hedgehogs.
Grace, from the BHPS Hedgehog Street Campaign, told us:- "As we know, hedgehog highway access gaps are a vital conservation measure in our urban and suburban landscape, and fencing companies are in a perfect position to help. This means you and your readers can get involved and help! We need you, our brilliant Hedgehog Champions, to write to local and national fencing companies to urge them to create hedgehog-friendly options. Your emails and letters will demonstrate the public support behind hedgehog highways and show how popular such products would be. We’ve put together a template letter for you to use when contacting companies who sell fencing products, explaining the importance of hedgehog highways and encouraging them to do their bit to help. It’s easy to get involved, and won’t take much time at all, but could make all the difference to hedgehogs. By incorporating these options, and raising awareness of them with customers, fencing companies can help to combat the prickly issue of habitat fragmentation. You can also do the same in your garden.
