FAMILIES have been thanked for the “fantastic welcome” they gave to the 1st ever Southport Artisan Market on Saturday!

The new event saw dozens of artisan stalls set out on the pedestrianised Market Street and in the events space inside Southport Market in Southport town centre in a vibrant celebration of creativity, community, and local talent.

The markets will take place on the 1st Saturday of every month throughout the year.

The next Southport Artisan Market will be 10am-4pm on:- Saturday, 4 April 2026 - during Easter weekend, in the school Easter holidays.

Independent Street owner Lisa Cowley said:- “What a fantastic welcome to Southport we had on Saturday! We received great feedback from customers and our stall holders too. Many of our food stalls sold out and it was a great addition to the already brilliant vendors in Southport Market Hall. Our children’s craft table and face painting proved very popular indeed. I’d like to say massive thanks to Southport Market Manager Jordan and Sefton Council for their support. We can’t wait to build on the success of last Saturday and urge any local artisans to get in touch! If you you would like to join us please email me at:- lisa@independentstreet.co.uk”

Local shoppers also enjoyed their visits.

Speaking on the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group, Janine Madi said:- “Another positive initiative, let's keep supporting them. This town has a lot to be proud of.”

Pat Dodd said:- “It’s a really lovely market. A good mixture of food and crafts. Well worth going on a fine day. I spent more than I should’ve!”

Angela Wallworth said:- “I visited towards the end of the day, but bought tasty pasties, fudge (before it sold out), flavoured eggnog and cheeses. All the stall holders were friendly. Looking forward to going again next month.”

Working in collaboration with Southport Market and Sefton Council the award-winning artisan market operator Independent Street is excited to drop anchor on the 1st Saturday of the month.

Southport Artisan Market offers a wide variety of award-winning food, fresh produce, arts and craft and vintage wares … plus live music and free children’s craft activities, with something for everyone.

Independent Street champions small businesses and provides a platform for local artisans to showcase to their community.

There are inside and outside trade options available and local artisans are asked to get in touch to showcase.

Are you a local musician, busker, performer or community group?  You are also encouraged to put yourself forward.
