Worry as protests loom in Southport this weekend
ON Sunday, 26 October 2025, Southport residents and businesses are voicing concerns as 2 protest groups are set to gather within the Town Centre. The seaside Town is still recovering from the riot, along with all the connected issues which affected not only local businesses, but also our Town's national and international image.
Organisers along with Merseyside Police have said any antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated, but this is bringing back the worries and fear to our community, with many businesses telling us they plan to stay closed. On social media we have seen lots of posts like this:- "Feeling a bit concerned, going to Lord Street tomorrow for Sunday lunch and drinks. I've just seen a post about a local well-known bar closing temporarily on Sunday re safety for staff ?? So what's the script do we all cancel our plans for tomorrow? Surely to God it won't get out of hand, and some Police will be in attendance."
What are your thoughts about these planned protests?
