THE Lakeside Runners will once again be fundraising for respite care charity Revitalise by hosting a 24-hour relay event at Marine Lake, Southport, in support of their Sandpipers holiday centre.

Commencing at 11am on:- Friday, 27 September 2024, the event will run for 24 hours, with at least 1 runner on the track at all times, all participants demonstrating Southport’s strong community support of local charity, Revitalise.

Revitalise is the only charity in the UK who specialise in creating fully accessible respite holidays for disabled individuals and their caregivers supported by 24 hour care. The charity's Sandpipers centre has become a cherished destination for those seeking respite care, offering a wealth of fantastic facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, in-house entertainment, and enriching excursions. The charity is an important lifeline in the UK disability and care sector.

Lakeside Runners, a free social run club consisting of over 500 members, have supported various philanthropic causes since their inception. Event Organiser Nicky Cooper said:- “We're excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our 24-hour relay, bringing together over 100 participants running or walking for a great cause. Once again, we're proud to support Revitalise and their incredible work at the Sandpipers centre, providing essential respite care for disabled individuals and their families. Every step counts towards making a difference. Join us for a 5k lap or do as many laps as you like over the 24 hours. Let's ensure everyone gets the care and support they deserve!”

Emma Dorrity, Community Engagement Manager at Revitalise says:- "We're thrilled to welcome back the Lakeside Runners to Sandpipers for their second 24-hour relay. Their continued support for the Sandpipers centre, whether through fundraising, challenge events, or raising awareness, has been invaluable. We’re incredibly grateful for all they do and excited to see what they achieve this year!"
