Formby Village set to Sparkles! Festive Fun Guaranteed as Christmas Lights Switch On Returns

FORMBY Parish Council has announced the official countdown has started for the:- "Most wonderful time of the year!"

 

The festive season is about to burst into life as the annual Formby Village Christmas Lights Switch On event prepares to take place on:- Thursday, 20 November 2025, from:- 3pm to 8pm.
 

This beloved tradition, a favourite with residents both young and old, promises an evening packed with community spirit, dazzling lights, and holiday cheer.
 

Thanks to Formby Parish Council securing funds for a brand new Christmas Tree and the grand lighting display, locals are now preparing a fantastic 5 hours event with of non stop holiday excitement.
 

This year the stage is set for community talent... The heart of the evening will be the stage, where local talent will shine!
 

We are told both community groups and local School children are lined up to perform and help usher in the festive period.
 

The highlight of the night, the official lights switch on, is scheduled for:- 7pm, flicked by a very special guest whose identity remains a closely guarded secret!
 

Spectators can line Chapel Lane, which will be transformed into a Christmas market wonderland, featuring a host of street stalls, entertainment, and all the usual festive delights.
 

Important Travel Information...
 

To ensure everyone can enjoy the fairground rides and festivities safely, a road closure on:- Chapel Lane, Formby, will be in effect, from:- 12 noon to 9pm.
 

Parking Restrictions will be implemented on the day. The parking bays outside the shops on:- Brows Lane, from the:- Post Office down to Delish, will be unavailable from:- midnight to 9pm. Residents are advised to plan alternative parking arrangements.
 

"We look forward to seeing the whole community come out to celebrate. It's the perfect way to kick off the Christmas season!" said a spokesperson for Formby Parish Council.
