Great British Rail Sale returns with millions of discounted tickets for Northern customers

NORTHERN customers are being encouraged to plan ahead and make the most of millions of discounted train tickets as the Great British Rail Sale returns in January 2026.

From:- 6 to 12 January 2026, customers will be able to snap up heavily reduced advance fares for travel between:- 13 January and 25 March 2026, with many journeys starting or finishing on Northern’s network included in the sale.

The nationwide promotion will see more than 3 million tickets made available, with savings of 50% or more on a wide range of routes.

Discounted fares will be available through usual ticket-buying channels, including online, via apps, at stations and ticket offices.

Some examples of the deals available on Northern's train services include:-

 

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport - £1.20 (usual price £2.90, saving 59%)

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western - £1.60 (usual price £3.60, saving 57%)

  • Newcastle to Middlesbrough - £2 (usual price £5.20, saving 62%)

  • Blackpool North to Manchester Piccadilly - £3.50 (usual price £7.90, saving 56%)

  • Bolton to Manchester Piccadilly - £1 (usual price £2.50, saving 60%)

With millions of discounted tickets available and fares as low as £1 between some of the key northern towns and cities, it’s the perfect time to plan ahead and make the most of what our region has to offer.”

Tickets are subject to availability and are valid on selected services, so customers are advised to book early to secure the best deals.
