Southport's Family Fun Day but still lots to do at the Big Model & Hobby Show in Formby High School!
THE Weather is very wet today and this has led to the Friends of Kings Gardens Southport canceling the Family Fun Day, but if you are still looking for an activity to do, don't panic as the Big Model and Hobby show is still going on, just down the road from Southport, at Formby High School.
This year's Big Model & Hobby show is crammed-packed full of activities and things to both see and do. From displays to talks, and more in between, fo not miss out on the chance to find your new hobby! This is the lie up so far... DISPLAYS... • Ballan Road an 0 gauge layout • Greys Requiem. • Anglebank with the Clee Hill Railway. • Hornby Tin Plate in 0 gauge. • Tan yr Allt an 009 Welsh Narrow Gauge. • Twix Twin from the period:- 1935 to 1965. • West Lance 0 Gauge with their circular 4-track railway. • Gauge 0 Guild supporting 0 gauge modelers. • Sefton Park Model Boat Club • Leigh Models and Hobbies. • West Lancashire Lace Makers with the ladies showing off their amazing skills. • Arthur Pollard with his collection of railway memorabilia. • Merseyside Scale Model Club with displays of completed plastic models and demonstration of kit building. • Talyllyn Railway NW Area Group spreading the word for the 1st preserved narrow gauge railway in the UK. • Southport Wood Carving Group demonstrating the art of wood carving with completed items of display. • North West Meccano Group. • Southport Model Boat Club. • Alan & Wyn James & Steiff toys. • Playmobile mats for children to play with trains and learn the art of radio control. • Hoylake trucks & buses have set up their impressive display. • Model Aircraft from the Liverpool & District Model Aero Society. • IPMS Kitmaker will be demonstrating scale modeling construction kits and model figures. • OPSTA & BURY Standard 4 Group. • The Southport Model Engineers have set up their 5” gauge. • North West Tank and Military Vehicle display. • Brickmaster. • Southport Model Engineering Club. • Vintage Triang Railway. • Rainhill Railway & Heritage Society. • Large G Scale Railway by Austin Moss. • Roger & Bernard with trains in many gauges for sale. • Barrett Steam Supplies selling gauge 1 steam locomotives. • TMS Model Store with a variety of gauge 1 & 0 gauge items for sale. • John Sutton with books for the modeller & model railways for sale. • Liverpool Model Railway Society. • Dave Denton with his 00 gauge items for sale. • Mulberry Harbour a 30’ long model of this famous structure. • Tramway & Light Railway Society with their impressive display of trams in 1/16th scale. • Gauge 1 Model Railway Association with steam & radio control locomotives. • Sandaig model railway based on Mallaig in Scotland. • Friends of the 502 Society preserving a driving trailer from the Southport to Liverpool electric line. • Outside there will be a mobile catering unit where hot food and drinks can be purchased with plenty of room to sit down • Outside - A collection of interesting vehicles.
