VERA and the Velociraptor is coming to Southport Market during the school summer holidays!

The entertaining children’s show will feature large (but very friendly!) 8ft dinosaur characters.

It is being performed by local theatre company Gambolling Arena, in the Extravaganza Space, at the back of the market, on King Street in Southport town centre, with the first show taking place on Wednesday, 26 July 2023.

You can then see it every Wednesday throughout August with performances at:- 11am and 1.30pm.

Tickets are:- £10 each, with under 1s going free, and can be booked through this link.

Southport Market has now expanded its opening hours throughout the summer holidays to open from Tuesday to Sunday, with lots going on for families to enjoy over the next few weeks.

Gambolling Arena Director Suzy Walker said:- “Vera and the Velociraptor is our brand new show! We can’t wait to perform it for families for the very 1st time this week. The show tells the story of Vera and her Dad who live on the Island of Nils Moreanous during the end of the Jurassic period, and Vera’s best friend who she shares her adventures with the adorable Velopciraptor Frankie, an 8ft cute monster…..Vera and Frankie must save the Dino eggs from a marauding herd of mammoths, so they join forces with the Dinosaur rangers Kenny and Nelly…using drums and songs they save the day! This is a very exciting, interactive show. We invite children to join in the fun if they’d like to. We wanted the dinosaurs to be adorable and not scary, so it’s suitable for youngsters of all ages. While our dinosaurs may be tall, there is also something sweet about them! The show has a really good feelgood feeling about it. Vera and the Velociraptor features original music, created by talented local musician Eddie Bixter. Kids can also get their pictures taken with the dinosaurs at the end of each show. All of the fabulous food outlets and the centre bar at Southport Market will be open before, during and after each show for anyone who wants to stay and enjoy something to eat or drink.”

Visitors are asked to arrive for their time slot on time. The time within the event is limited to 1 and a half hours. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Southport Market celebrated its second birthday on 22 July 2023, after a record breaking year of success.

Nearly half a million meals and drinks have been served to thousands of people who have visited the popular food market in Southport town centre in the last twelve months.

An astounding 422,300 dishes, including 30,000 burgers and 45,000 pizzas, have been sold at the King Street venue as staff and traders worked tirelessly to keep up with demand.

This year saw the addition of Southport Market’s Extravaganza space hosting a huge array of private hire events as well as sell-out experiences and shows.
