EDGE Hill University has been officially recognized as one of the country’s best parks, receiving a Green Flag Award for the 12th year in a row.

The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces and puts Edge Hill’s campus amongst some of the best green spaces and parks in the UK.

This achievement is thanks to the dedication of Edge Hill’s Facilities Management Team who have worked hard in all weathers to maintain the extensive campus grounds to the highest standards, providing a beautiful space for students, staff, and members of the public to enjoy.

Grounds Manager Neil Toner said:- “The whole FM team are immensely proud to have won this award so many times - a dozen years as one of the nation’s best green spaces - what an incredible achievement.  Whether it’s the lakes, the rock garden, flower beds or open spaces, we all take immense pride in creating spaces where people can take a few minutes out of their day to sit and relax in a beautiful, natural environment. I’d like to thank every member of staff for their contribution to maintaining campus and winning this award.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under license from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognizes and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager Paul Todd MBE said:- “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Edge Hill University in achieving a Green Flag Award. Edge Hill University is a vital green space for the community in Lancashire bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles. The staff does so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award, and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”
