GORSE Fest returns to the Gorse Millennium Green in New Brighton on:- Saturday, 22 July 2023, for another fantastic event to raise money to protect one of the Wirral’s beautiful hidden gems. The mini-festival will feature live music, food and drinks, and fun for all the family from:- 11:30 am until 8:30 pm.

On the day, there will be no less than 19 top local music acts playing live at the:- 2023 Gorse Fest. There will also be a wide range of stalls showcasing homemade arts and crafts, artisan products and art from local artists, as well as mouth-watering pizzas and burgers with a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The event kindly asks for donations of £2 donation per adult and £1 donation per child.

The beautiful little park located next to the water tower on Gorsehill Road is run by Friends Of The Gorse, a team of volunteers who do sterling work to preserve the picturesque green space. The festival raises vital funds to help them maintain the park all year round and protect the wildlife it hosts.

The story behind Gorse Millennium Green is stuff of legend and a triumph for the power of community. Previously owned by United Utilities, who also owned the adjacent water tower, the beautiful space was due to be sold to developers and turned into apartments; until the local community rallied and raised £90,000 to save it. Thanks to volunteers, donations, and the festival, it continues to thrive today.

One of the Friends Of The Gorse, John Uriel, said:- We at Friends Of The Gorse are always so very grateful for all the vital work of our volunteers. Things cost money as well of course, so the annual festival is crucial to the park’s continued existence. It is so important that we protect these beautiful spaces so that they can be enjoyed by people and wildlife for years to come.”

Gorse Fest is being supported by:- 'The Scrap Yard in Liscard,' who do amazing work for local community. Owner Claire Mallon Simpson is a member of Friends Of The Gorse and lives next to it, so is also very passionate about protecting this beautiful piece of land.

Claire said:- ”It really is such a lovely park and it is so nice to witness people enjoy it. The nature trail at the back is great for kids and is a haven of gorgeous flowers and wildlife. Saving it from developers was a great achievement and we must continue to protect it for years to come.”

This year’s Gorse Fest event is aiming to be the biggest yet and there will be a special visit from The Mayor Of Wirral in support of this great community initiative. With top live music, food and drink, stalls, and fun for all the family, people can enjoy a top day out whilst knowing they are helping sustain one of Wirral’s true treasures.

The event is located at:- Gorse Millennium Park, Gorsehill Road, New Brighton, Merseyside, UK.
