Full Southport and Ormskirk timetable reinstated as new Class 777 rollout continues
AS part of the phased introduction of the new Class 777 trains on the Merseyrail network, the Southport and Ormskirk lines will see a full reinstatement of the timetable as the 1st new train enters passenger service on the Ormskirk line.
A small number of services throughout the day had been canceled for the last few weeks to facilitate driver training. Although there will still be driver training taking place on other parts of the network, the full timetable will now be reinstated on the Southport and Ormskirk line. However, passengers should be aware that between:- 13 April to 15 April 2023, there will be a slightly amended timetable due to special services being run for the Grand National. Some trains may run earlier than normal. Passengers should check the Merseyrail website, social media or app to check train times. From Monday, 10 April 2023, passengers on the Ormskirk Line will notice the new Class 777 trains begin operating in passenger service. As was the case on the Kirkby line the number of trains in passenger service will grow as the phased roll out progresses over the next few weeks. Since the introduction of the Class 777s on the Kirkby line in January, passengers have been fulsome in their praise of the new trains. Many have been hugely impressed with the improved design, layout, and high tech features such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and electric charging points.
