Breakfast business networking to boost Walton community

LIVERPOOL City Council is hosting a free Business Breakfast to support a community recovering from racist riots last summer.

The event will be held at Walton on:- Friday, 14 March 2025, at 8:00 AM at The Garden Café, 5-7 County Road, Liverpool, L4 3QA.

This informal event aims to connect local businesses, provide valuable support, and foster community growth as Walton prepares for the departure of Everton Football Club from its historic home at Goodison Park.

The breakfast is part of Liverpool City Council's UKSPF Business Support Service, a project funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as the lead authority.  This service helps both new and existing businesses in Liverpool to grow and succeed.

The Council is keen to make it easy for local businesses to connect with the authority and with each other.

Networking breakfasts are a great way to have a relaxed chat, learn about the support available, and build relationships within the community.

The event will offer attendees the chance to:-

  • Talk to their Neighbourhood Manager about local happenings.
  • Meet and network with other businesses in the area.
  • Explore fully-funded guidance and advice for sustainable growth.
  • Learn about free recruitment and staff development programs from Liverpool in Work.
  • Find out about funding for childcare, eligibility for your employees and how tax free childcare works.

Liverpool City Council is conscious that the support landscape is always changing, so this is a fantastic opportunity to bridge that gap and help them thrive. Business communities are so important as they are within the heart of our neighbourhoods, and it is crucial that they are recognised for the contribution they make to the communities they serve.

The event will be low-key, with brief introductions from the Neighbourhood Manager and a member of the business support team and other council staff. Attendees will then have the opportunity to network and discuss potential collaborations.

This initiative follows successful outreach activities across the City over the last year , including a busy drop-in session for Long Lane and recent breakfasts events in Wavertree, Penny Lane, Croxteth, Speke and Kensington. The council is particularly keen to support businesses in the Walton area to build on previous investment in the high street.

Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins, Cabinet Member for Communities, Neighbourhoods and Streetscene, said:- "We want to build a strong business community in Walton. I would encourage as many local business owners as possible to take part in the event as not only will they gain a lot from it, but the community itself will also benefit from this interaction. We hope this breakfast will be the 1st of many successful gatherings."

The UKSPF Business Support Service is committed to providing tailored guidance and advice to help businesses achieve sustainable growth, and to support entrepreneurial residents start up new businesses.

Interested businesses can find more information and register for the event on Eventbrite.
