THE UK Met Office has issued a Yellow Snow and Ice Warning has been issued forlarge parts of the UK, including Merseyside and West Lancashire areas.
The warning issued on 14 January 2024 comes into force at Midnight, on Tuesday, 16 January 2024 and runs until 11:59pm, on Thusday, 18 January 2024.
The Met Office says:- "Frequest snow showers, perhaps merging into a longer spell of snow, are likely to cause disruption over this period."
The Met Office says we should expect:-
- Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers.
- Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
- Possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.
- A chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
- Some rural communities could become cut off.
