Formby Marks Armistice Day 2023
EVERY year since 1922 the residents of Formby, in Merseyside, have gathered on Armistice Day (11 November) to remember those who have died in conflicts around the world, from our community.
This year, a simple service was held, with aL- 2 minute silence at :-11:00 GMT, which marks the end of World War 1. The event was extremely well attended. This page has a video of some of the Service that was held at the War Memorial that carries the names of local people who died in World War,1, World War 2, and recent conflicts, such as Afghanistan. Following the service, the activities moved to another service, which is also held annually, for the Polish Airmen who died fling out of RAF Woodvale, over World War 2, and are buried at Our Lady of Compassion Church, We will have footage of this service on our YouTube Channel very soon. For more information about the Formby Branch of the Royal British Legion, please click here. We will remember them...
