AS we reported at the start of Bsnk Holiday Monday (28 August 2023) the UK's Britain's National Air Traffic Service (NATS) suffered a technical problem that has resulted in widespread disruption to flights in UK airspace.

Despite the  malfunction of the  UK Air Traffic Control's systems to automatic processing of flight plans, the UK air space was able to stay open, but this required NATS to handled all flights manually. This is why they had yo reduce the amount of flights and what led to the many flight delays and cancellations.

The issue with the automatic processing of flight plans has now been resolved, but it lead to schedules being significantly disrupted for the rest of Bank Holiday Monday. The schedule issues might also go on into the following day, as airports and airlines redeploy staff and resources throughout Europe to get back to normal.

British Transport Minister, Mark Harper has told the media that he was working with NATS to help it manage affected flights and support passengers.

NATS Operations Director Juliet Kennedy said in a video posted, on Twitter said:- "Our absolute priority is safety and we will be investigating very thoroughly what happened today."

Liverpool Airport has committed:- "Although the country wide flight planning systems failure has now been resolved, there will be a knock-on effect causing some delays and cancellations. We advise all passengers to check with their airline for information about their flight. Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused today."
