THE build-up to the 2023 Local Elections in Sefton (Southport Area) being declared and the results being read out.
This is live footage taken at the Sefton Council Count for the following wards:- Ainsdale, Birkdale, Cambridge, Norwood, Meols, Kew, and Dukes Wards.
Results read out are as follows:-
Ainsdale Ward:-
Elected - Janet Catherine Harrison - The Labour Party - won with 1497 votes - 36% of votes.
Lesley Delves - Not Elected - Liberal Democrats - 1481 votes - 35% of votes.
Nigel Ball - Not Elected - The Conservative Party - 1046 votes - 25% of votes.
Laurence George Rankin - Not Elected - The Green Party - 187 votes - 4% of votes.
Birkdale Ward:-
Elected - Simon Shaw - Liberal Democrats - won with 1431 votes - 40% of votes.
Ged Wright - Not Elected - The Labour Party - 1356 votes - 38% of votes.
Samuel (Sam) Harris - Not Elected - The Conservative Party - 504 votes - 14% of votes.
David William Collins - Not Elected - The Green Party - 134 votes - 4% of votes.
Andrew Norman Lynn - Not Elected - Reform UK - 110 votes - 3% of votes.

The overall Sefton Council Election Seats Won:-
The Labour Party - 17 newly won seats.
Liberal Democrats - 4 newly won seats.
