New Year’s Honours MBE awarded to Mersey Care's Chief Executive
MERSEY Care’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Trish Bennett, has been recognised for her services to the NHS in Merseyside by being awarded an MBE in the King’s New Year’s Honours List.
Trish has more than 40 years of knowledge and experience in all age community and mental health services and despite advancing during her career into more strategic roles, she has never lost her passion for nursing and patient care. Trish Bennett said:- "I’ve loved my whole career in the NHS, both as a Chief Executive and as a nurse, which remains close to my heart and I’m immensely proud to be recognised in this way. Caring for patients, is at the heart of everything I’ve ever done. I don’t see this as an individual award but one that recognises the strength of our whole community at Mersey Care. Working alongside people dedicated to caring for our patients and service users is an ongoing inspiration." During the Covid19 Pandemic, as Chief Nurse, Trish demonstrated calm and authoritative leadership, redeploying and mobilising teams to ensure patient safety. She extended her influence beyond internal processes, leading system wide initiatives, offering mutual aid to Trusts, and taking on a strategic leadership role in the Out of Hospital Cell for NHS Cheshire and Merseyside. Prior to becoming CEO, Trish served as Executive Chief Nurse and Director of Operations, leading efforts to integrate community and mental health across the Liverpool region to ensure patients receive safe, effective care in a community setting as an alternative to Hospital visits. Under her clinical leadership, Mersey Care has also developed the country’s most extensive telehealth service, which has pioneered new ways of working for the NHS in the future and meeting the demands of a growing and ageing population.
