'Peace in the World Speech' by Mary-Anna Jennings
"It can be very difficult to think of peace when the world is in such turmoil. We are faced with wars, hatred, injustice, and more. Today, I ask you to not only think about Peace, but also hope. Hope isn’t just something fundamental,  but it is a true concept. It is a phrase we use so often, we ‘Hope for the best’, we're ‘Hopeful for our dreams to come true’. But aside from these factors, Hope is a beacon. With hope, we can rise, spread light, love, and peace. Hope brings us through dark times and onto greener pastures. Whilst not all of us can feel Peace today, we can feel Hope. We spread it with our smiles, our stories, and our actions. With Hope, we are reassured that things will get better, and we can reach Peace once again. So today, either later on or maybe right now, I want you to think of something to be hopeful for. Be kind to yourself and give yourself that reassurance. When we learn how to do this, we can all become beacons of Hope for others. Through Hope we can spread Peace, and through Peace we can spread Hope. Peace in the World may not be happening right now, but our Hope can pave the way for Peace to shine through. Thank you."

What is a Peace Pole - A peace Pole is a monument that displays the message:- "May Peace Prevail on Earth" usually using local languages meaningful to people of the local community. Peace Pole is an affirmation of Rotary’s goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world.
