Travel delays and temporary security changes at Liverpool Airport
LIVERPOOL Airport (Liverpool John Lennon Airport) has issued the following statement regarding security temporary changes due to ongoing works to improve the passenger security experience,
The statement reads:- "We are asking departing passengers to arrive at the airport 3 hours before their flight. Over the next few weeks, we are upgrading our remaining security lanes to the brand-new Next Gen equipment. During this period, security processing times are likely to be longer than you're used to, so we recommend passengers arrive 3 hours before their departure time, however passengers travelling with Ryanair who need to check-in luggage for flights departing after 8 am can only do so 2 hours before their departure. Passengers who have pre-booked car parking on site at the airport, can park earlier on the day of travel if they now plan on arriving earlier than stated on their car park booking. A change brought about with this new security equipment is that, whilst liquid items are still restricted to a container size of up to 100ml, these items along with large electrical devices like laptops and iPads can all now remain in hand luggage as they pass through the security screening equipment. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause." More information about the current issues can be found on the airport's website. Passengers travelling in and out of the airport are also reminded that you might face traffic delays travelling into the airport due to major improvement scheme is taking place at:- Tarbock Island, at Junction 6 of the M62. Current road works that could affect your travel to and from the airport are as follows:-
