CCTV appeal after man stabbed in Southport
MERSEYSIDE Police have issued CCTV images of 2 males who they believe could have information following a stabbing, that took place in Southport, on:- Friday, 21 February 2024.
Although the images are not of the best quality, Merseyside Police are hoping that the male's appearance, clothing and the circumstances of this incident will prompt people with information to come forward and help them to identify the suspect. The incident is said to have happened at about:- 7.40pm, when Merseyside Police Officers were called to the Southport Town Centre, on Lord Street, following reports that a male, aged 24, had been stabbed outside the Glasshouse Public House. The victim is reported to have sustained a stab wound to his side following an argument with 3 other males, 1 of whom was said to be wearing a balaclava. The injured man was taken to Hospital, where he is being treated for the injury sustained, which is not believed to be serious. Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher, said:- "The use of knives and other weapons on the streets can have catastrophic consequences for all of those involved, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which could assist our inquiries, to come forward. We have given the media these 2 images of 2 males because we believe they could have information to assist our ongoing investigation. We can also confirm that a 24 year old male, from the Bootle area, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug following the incident." Detective Inspector Louise Johnson added in a public statement given to the media that:- "The investigation is progressing, and we are now issuing these images because we believe that the men pictured could have information about what happened. Although the quality of the images is not ideal, we hope that it may trigger a memory from someone who may have seen these men in the area. Do you recognize them from what they are wearing? Did you see them acting suspiciously either before or after the incident? Any information you have, no matter how small you think it may be, could be vital to our inquiries. Lord Street (A565) is a busy road and I would appeal to any motorists who were driving along Lord Street, at the time of the incident, who have a dashcam that may have recorded the incident to contact us."
