Landmarks to be light up in pink and local charity raising funds to help the community recover
LANDMARKS across the North West of England will be light up in pink over this weekend in memory of the 3 young girls killed in the Southport knife attack this week. This will include the Southport Town Centre's Atkinson Arts Centre and the Town Hall, where the public vigil was held.
The Town has been in shock over the last week and the mood within the Town has been of pure numbness. Also, many shops in the Town Centre have closed early over the last few days, due to fears of further violence. Merseyside Police have confirmed they have made a further 7 arrests in connection to the violence stirred up by opportunists on the following day. Police in Southport has been given further powers to help them keep order and allow the people of Southport to continue to rebuild and mourn the death of the 3 children without the risk of further unnecessary violence and damage.
The Town is also understood to be looking at other ways to remember the 3 children and help the other children and adults who have been affected by the knife attack.
