FOLLOWING the General Election on Thursday, 4 July 2024, the Conservative Group Leader on Sefton Council, Mike Prendergast, has offered his congratulations to new MP, Patrick Hurley, and paid tribute to Damien Moore.

In a press release sent to us Councillor Prendergast said:- "Firstly, I want to congratulate Patrick Hurley on his election on Thursday on behalf of the Conservative Group on Sefton Council. I also wish to pay tribute to our outgoing MP, Damien Moore. For 7 years he has represented us in Westminster and stood up for the people of Southport against a Labour run Sefton Council that very often, does not act in the best interests of Southport. He helped deliver unprecedented levels of investment in Southport with funding for the new theatre and convention center that, when completed, will be a driver of economic growth for our local economy. Damien and his hardworking staff have also dealt with thousands of pieces of casework, helping local people with all manner of issues. Damien and his team should be proud of the work they did to help so many across the area. On behalf of the Conservative Group on Sefton Council, I want to offer him and his team our sincerest thanks for their hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts in advocating for Southport in Westminster. Conservatives in Southport will continue to hold Sefton Council to account. We want to see our Pier back open again, see Children's Social Services improve, see Southport's Lord Street rejuvenated, see our heritage preserved, and get better value for money from Sefton Council for local residents and businesses."
