Sefton Sixth Form College Student celebrates Cambridge Offer.
NAOMI Thornton, a student at Sefton Sixth Form College in Litherland, has received an offer from the University of Cambridge to study Linguistics from September 2024.
From Litherland, Naomi is currently studying A-level Maths, Chemistry, English Language and Psychology at the College with the goal of becoming a speech and language therapist in the future. Naomi recalls:- “There was a lot of waiting to find out if I got in. I knew the date they would let me know if I was successful, but not the time. I remember I was in College, and I just kept refreshing my emails waiting to see. During the break with all my friends I got the news, they were all so happy for me and I went straight away to find my Personal Development Coach, Julie.” Naomi was 1 of the many students at Sefton Sixth Form College who had utilised their Oxbridge Access Programme. The programme is there to support students going through the process of submitting an early application to UCAS and offers a wealth of support for students including; 1 to 1 guidance from an Oxford Graduate Tutor, University visits to Cambridge and Oxford, Mock Interviews and Guest Speakers, all supported by their dedicated personal development coach. This is offered as part of the Enhancement programme at Sefton Sixth Form College which runs alongside the student's A-level study and seeks to enhance their CV’s, future job applications and UCAS applications. When speaking about the news Julie Bass, Personal Development Coach at Sefton Sixth Form College, said:- “Naomi is an outstanding student, her attendance and attitude to learning is excellent. Naomi is a fantastic young person, with a positive, sunny disposition and a pleasure to be around. She will be sorely missed, but we wish her every success in her future goals and dreams.” This is not the only good news from Sefton Sixth Form College, with 141 of their students meeting the UCAS application deadline, which is above the national average for Sixth Form Colleges in England. Some of the standout offers include; Maisy Gott receiving an offer to study Law at Royal Holloway, University of London, Maisie Price for Medicine at Keele University and Likwezi Matebese who has received an offer for Pharmacy at the University of Brighton.
