New event aims to help young people with SEND take next steps to adulthood
A new event, designed to support young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disabilities) with their journey towards adulthood, has been announced.
The Ready, Set, Thrive: Adulthood Awaits event will bring young people, families, professionals and services together; to offer expert guidance, professional resources, and presentations from a range of industry leaders. The event will be held at the:- Atrium, Learning Exchange, on Roscoe Street, on:- Wednesday, 22 October 2025, from:- 4pm to 7 pm. Led by Liverpool City Council, the event is aimed at Secondary School age children with SEND, specifically those in Year 9 and above, who are unsure of what their next steps could be or where to find advice and support. Professionals and agencies supporting children with SEND are also welcome. From education and employment to independent travel training and supported employment providers, this event will give young people and parents the information they need for an easier journey. Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment and Skills, Councillor Joanne Kennedy, said:- "Preparing for adulthood is an exciting but also challenging time, it can feel like there’s a lot to do and so many decisions to make. Our event Ready Set Thrive, Adulthood Awaits, aims to make this journey smoother by bringing together key support services, all in one place. It’s a chance for young people, families, and professionals to ask questions and connect face to face with services and people who can shape their future." Specialist presentations will also be held between 5-6pm from key providers on the following:- What to consider when choosing your options, led by Liverpool City Council's Special Educational Needs Information Support Service (SENISS) from:- 5 pm. Post 16 options. The curriculum offer and the support and welfare available, and how to apply, delivered by:-
Refreshments will be provided, and there’s no need to book. People wanting to attend can just turn up on the day. Alternatively, anyone can express their interest in attending by completing the online form and providing further details of any requirements they might have ahead of the event. This will make sure everyone’s needs are catered for.

A creche staffed by college learners and qualified teachers will also be available and is bookable online ahead of the event. There is limited car parking at the venue.
