OVER £15,000 has been raised for Bebe’s Hive and Alder Hey Children’s Charity at a vibrant Community Day held at The Rookery in Southport.

The special event was held on:- Sunday, 6 July 2025, and was hosted by Southport Trinity Cricket Club on a day packed with live entertainment, cricket matches, games, stalls, craft activities, fairground rides, food and drink, a BBQ, and lots of live music.

Bebe’s Hive hosted a stall selling their new merchandise produced by Westcoast Workwear which includes t-shirts, tote bags, pocket hugs, running tops, keyrings and bracelets.

Every penny raised will go towards Bebe’s Hive, to provide Creative Grief Support For Children.

Singers performing on the day include Hayley Murray, Kelly Bond, Wendy Chalke, Heather Jayne and Southport Rock Choir.

There was also a raffle with over 100 amazing prizes to be won, along with an auction, both of which were made possible through the tremendous generosity of local businesses.

Event host Kelly Bond said:- “Think I speak for everyone when I say how overwhelmed with gratitude we are for all the incredible support, dedication, and community spirit shown in pulling off Sunday’s event in memory of beautiful Bebe. Southport community spirit was out in full force with such generosity! With your support, along with the hard work of vendors, entertainers, volunteers, and staff, we were able to raise over £15,000 for Bebe’s Hive and Alder Hey Children’s Charity. And that’s just the beginning! With the raffle and auction still ongoing, I have no doubt we will raise even more!"

She continued:- “A special thank you goes out to Southport Trinity Cricket Club for their exceptional organisational skills and for making the impossible possible in less than 2 months. Your dedication in bringing everything together was standing ovation worthy. I’m so proud of you all! I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to every individual who contributed, volunteered, or participated in any way. Your kindness, support, and hard work have not gone unnoticed. Too many to mention but I will highlight those that kept everyone entertained: Wendy Louise Chalke, Rock Choir, Hayley Murray Music, Heather Gomersall, Starkidz Entertainment, Baz Todd Events (DJ Mat). As well as those who had stalls and participated in cricket matches. The event has shown us all once again what can be achieved when we come together for a common purpose. I am so proud to be a part of such a caring and compassionate community. There truly was a buzz in the air and I know Bebe was there with us all.”

What happened last year with the Southport tragedy affected Southport Trinity Cricket Club deeply in many ways.

The Community Day was their time to help make a difference.

The club has asked to add a bee symbol to this year’s cricket shirts — a gesture to honour Bebe, alongside Alder Hey.

The junior shirts already feature the early bee design.

Now, the adult team will proudly wear the official Bebe’s Hive logo.
