A recent study by the University of Reading found owning houseplants significantly improved mental health

A free houseplant workshop is taking place at the Liverpool Irish Centre on the:- 14 August 2024. Hosted by the independent business:- Planty Haus. The workshop is designed to boost mental health and well being by showing a new approach to indoor plants centered around sharing spaces and forging bonds with our leafy friends.

Houseplant expert Christina Ashworth, founder of Planty Haus, has been helping people to care for their houseplants for decades. She says:- "In these frenetic modern times just living with plants can help reduce stress levels and promote a sense of calmness. Looking at lush green growth seems to reassure us, but the act of caring for plants and watching them grow is so rewarding it produces dopamine. This acts on areas of the brain to give you feelings of pleasure, satisfaction, and motivation, and all from loving a potted plant."

The workshop is inspired not just by anecdotal evidence, but by scientific studies. Last April, the University of Reading published a study that showed that owning houseplants can improve mental health.

The free workshop will break down any barriers or hesitations about owning houseplants. Planty Haus makes houseplants easy, and in the workshop, they’ll show you how to:-
  •     Water your houseplants properly - something that gets taken for granted by many plant lovers.

  •     Where to position your houseplants depends on the type of plant.

  •     How to repot your houseplants when they grow too big.

  •     How to propagate your plants so you can grow even more!
You can also bring along a houseplant you’d like some advice on and Christina will be more than happy to help.

The event starts at:- 6 pm and lasts around 2 hours.

Refreshments will be available too. The event is fully wheelchair accessible and open to people of all ages and abilities.

You can book your free place on Eventbrite, and to find out more about Planty Haus, head here.
