SCAM warning issues as a new phishing email has made its way onto the web. This email closely resembles emails that are sent out by this trusted antivirus company.

Today we have lost track of how many fake emails we see, sent out by Cybercriminals who are targeting businesses and individuals through fake emails on a daily basis. Often emails can really look like they have been sent from an established and legitimate company, and are very hard to spot. But at times you get emails like this, which clearly shows a different domain, that is even remotely not connected to McAfee. But even if the email sender appears to have the correct email address, sometimes what appears correct and friendly or harmless, is really a scam. These wolf-in-sheep's clothing emails, we are told, often come with odd attachments, but more and more we are seeing emails that use links and not attachments to trick you into opening something you shouldn't, such as this email.

This email at first glance appears to be sent from an established and legitimate company, in this case, McAfee, using the subject line:- "Receipt for the Order ID #45045" and embedded logo. But, the only link you can locate on the email that works you can see would take you to a website that is nothing to do with McAfee.

Their goal is to get you to reveal your private and sensitive information such as your credit card details, date of birth, social security number, and more, by calling the number that is shown on the email. Legitimate McAfee emails always end in ".mcafee.com." BUT... Never take the email showing as the correct email. If you click reply and any other shows up, even if the sender email shows ".mcafee.com." it is a scam!

We strongly recommend you never click on any links in this type of email, but if you have over them, with the mouse, you should be able to see the link that appears to be wrong. Always look at the very last part of the web address. Just as with the email address, if it appears not to end with the company's official domain, for example in this case, the domain before the .com should read 'McAfee.Com,' but in this case, it reads:- 'biet.it'

Some firms and groups, including ours, sometimes use other domain names, as does McAfee, but these are normally listed, and if in doubt, go directly to the firm's website and email them using that email address. Never use the links on the email to do this!

Should you get any of these types of emails, do not use the links or open any attachments, and definitely do not use any phone number on them. You can forward suspicious emails that claim to be from Mcafee to:- spam@mcafee.com.

McAfee does not send invoices for transactions done through QuickBooks, PayPal, or Intuit through any McAfee email address.

If you do need a McAfee invoice, you can follow the steps below:-

Log on to your McAfee account to view your purchase history:-

Go to MyAccount.McAfee.Com.
Click Login at the top right.
Type your registered email address and password, and then click Log In.
Select Account, then choose Subscriptions.
Click Purchase History. Here, you can view the invoice history of the product.

If you’re unable to view your purchase history, you can also contact McAfee's Customer Service, on the firm's website.

For transactions done through credit cards, you get an email from:- 'donotreply@mcafee.com' with the subject line:- "Your McAfee Receipt" with the order summary and the invoice number.
