LIVERPOOL Football Club have issued a statement following the tragic death of Diogo Jota who has died in a car crash in Spain.

The club has said:- "We are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The club have been informed the 28 year old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre. Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre's family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support."

It is reported that he and his brother, Andre Silva, had crashed in an incident on the Spanish province of Zomora.

It is thought that they had been overtaking another car at the time of the crash. It is thought the Mercadies suffered a tier blowout. The crash is reported to have then set both the car and bush land alight.

Jota joined Liverpool FC (The Reds) after leaving Wolverhampton Wonderers (Wolves) in 2020. He was recently married to his long-term partner Rute Cardoso. The footballer had 3 children with her.

Ballot door Ronaldo has sent his condolence to Jota's family and friends. In the post online he has said:- "I know you will always be with them. Rest in peace, Diogo e Andre. We will miss you. "

The Portuguese Captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has said on social media that:- "It doesn't make sense. Just now we were together in the National Team. You had just got married."

It's worth noting his last goal for Liverpool FC was a header at the very last Darby to be played at Goodison Park.

Please remember to respect all those involved.

Our thoughts go out to both him and his brothers' families and friends. You will never walk alone!
