MERSEYRAIL has announced a new showcase to support local businesses across the communities it serves. It’s giving them an opportunity to spotlight their products and services at Merseyrail stations during Local Business Week which this year will run from 22– 26 September 2025.

Local businesses are now being invited to apply to take part in the showcase, which is designed to spotlight the region’s thriving business community, by offering free promotional space across the Merseyrail network. The aim is to help local businesses connect with the tens of thousands of customers that use the City Region’s rail network each day.

Selected businesses will be given dedicated space at a Merseyrail station to promote their products or services, with no charge for participation. Across Local Business Week Merseyrail is offering over £20,000 worth of free pop-up activations.

The showcase will also be promoted through in-station and digital advertising campaigns, with participating businesses encouraged to donate to Merseyrail’s official Charities of the Year in return.

The initiative is designed to support the aim to make the Liverpool City Region the best place to start or grow a business and to ensure that public transport continues to play a central role in inclusive, community-led economic development.

Launching the scheme, Suzanne Grant, Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Managing Director at Merseyrail, said:- “The local business showcase is about using our network as a force for good, creating new opportunities for local businesses to grow and thrive, right at the heart of the communities we serve. Whether you’re stepping onto a train or discovering a new local favourite retailer, Merseyrail stations are becoming more than just connecting points, they’re gateways to opportunity, showcasing the brilliant people and businesses that make our region unique.”

Eligible businesses must be located within a 2-mile radius of the Merseyrail network, with applications open from the:- 1 July - 25 July 2025. As part of the application process, business will be asked to indicate their preferred station location.
