Merseyside Police continue appeal for whitnesses and information following the Liverpool FA Parade incodent

MERSEYSIDE Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information, a week on from the incident that took place on:- Water Street, within:- Liverpool City Centre.

Merseyside Police have said:- "We were contacted just after:- 6pm, on:- Monday, 26 May 2025, following reports that a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians as the Liverpool FC parade drew to a close. As a result the number of people reported to have been injured currently stands at 109. 4 people remain in the Hospital being treated for their injuries. Specialist Officers are supporting the injured and their families, and we have Mutual Aid Officers from:- GMP, Cumbria, Lancashire, North Wales and Cheshire assisting us with the investigation. Paul Desmond Sanders Doyle, 53, of Burghill Road, West Derby, has since been charged with 2 counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; t2 counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; 2 counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, all contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.  He has also been charged with 1 count of dangerous driving contrary to Section 2 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. He has also appeared at:- Liverpool Crown Court, on:- Friday, 30 May 2025, and has been remanded into custody."

Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson said:- "This is a complex and constantly evolving investigation, and we are still working through and assessing those reporting being injured, and our enquiries remain ongoing. I would like to thank everyone who has been in touch with us so far to give witness accounts or supply information, or video footage. The response so far has been of great assistance in progressing the investigation. We have had more than 500 submissions to the Major Incident Police Portal (MIPP), and a team of detectives are currently working through the information provided. I would continue to appeal for anyone who has information and is yet to come forward to please get in touch as a matter of urgency."

Detective Superintendent Wilson said:- "As a person has now been charged in connection with this incident, I would like to remind people not to speculate or share information or footage which could in any way jeopardise the case. We understand that emotions are still running high, and people are seeking answers, but it is vital that we allow the matter to go through the judicial process."
