How to turn a Spare Potato into an April Sweet Potato

SWEET Potatoes are nutritious, packing a good amount of vitamin A, vitamin C, and manganese into each serving. Sweet Potatoes are excellent for cooking, baking, grilling,  mashing or frying and can therefore be prepared in a variety of ways. So how can you make your own? We have this fantastic recipe for you to turn your spare potato into a delightful April Sweet Potato...
 
Did you know that Sweet Potatoes can be eaten:-
 
  • With pork, pork chops and other pork dishes.
     
  • Poultry. Chicken and other poultry products.
     
  • Eggs.
     
  • Beans, Grains and Lentils.
     
  • Herbs and Spices.
     
  • Made into crisps to eat with salad.
     

What makes a good sweet potato?  A good sweet potato should be a deep orange flesh colour, a good shape and size with the common skin colour of light to medium rose, copper, or red. So remember to use plenty of colourant in it.
 
This recipe helps you to create the perfect Sweet Potato.
 
Ingredients...
 
  • 1 large potato.
     
  • 2 Teaspoons of the colourant beta carotene (optional)
     
  • Grated zest of an orange.
     
  • 140 g icing sugar.
     
  • 3 Teaspoons of beetroot juice.
     
  • 6 Table Spoons of boiling water.
     
  • 6 Cups of boiling water.
 
Steps....
 
Clean the potato but do not break the skin.
 
Get 6 cups of boiling water and put them into a bowl.  Then add the potato.
 
Put in another cup, the 6 table spoons of boiling water and dissolve the icing sugar into it. Also, add the beta carotene colourant into it, if you have it to hand.
 
Next mix into the cup the beetroot juice into the bowl of boiling water with the potato in.
 
Next add the cup of colouring and a small amount of grated zest of an orange. The orange can very to your own preference.
 
Next boiling it all up and serve.
 
It is best eaten on April the 1st... Before Noon.
