Met Office issues Yellow Weather Warning for Snow
MET Office meteorologists are warning that heavy snow may cause some disruption over the weekend and have issed Yellow Weather Warnings from:- 12 noon, on:- Saturday, 4 January 2025 to 9 am, on:- Monday, 6 January 2025.
Already, a major incident was declared in Greater Manchester by Police after flooding forced homes to be evacuated and closed train lines and roads following heavy rain. If correct, the added effects of snow and ice could lead to manjor issues accross the UK. The forecaster have said:- "Already the North West of England saw almost a month's worth of rain fall over 48 hours, and we expect more flooding as a result. The current weather conditions are already making driving conditions dangerous, so to keep yourself and others safe. If you are travelling, please plan your route, checking for delays and road closures, amending your travel plans if necessary. We are also now issuing a new warning for more possible disruption over the weekend, due to snow and ice. We strongly suggest you only make necessary travel this weekend. If you are travelling, please check your vehicle has:- warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, ice scraper/de-icer, a warning triangle, high visibility vest and an in-car phone charger, in the event of any delays. Do not try to drive through flood waters or snow drifts." COMMENTS (0)
