Storm Eowyn hits UK as we usher in the New Year

THE United Kingdom has issed several Yellow Weather Warnings as Storm Eowyn crosses the UK as we usher in the New Year. The last storm of 2024 to be named by the Met Office is set to start 2025 with travel disruption across the Britan.  Allready the public transport ststem has issued warnings of major delays and cancellations to train and bus services.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Andy Page said:- "Following a complex weather pattern featuring a series of low pressure systems bringing strong winds, rain and even some snow, the forecast for the next few days has a much colder outlook."

The 1st day of 2025, 1 January will see much of UK, New Year's Day will start wet and windy. The Met Offices says we should expect:- " colder conditions, with a mix of sunshine and wintry showers."

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Rebekah Hicks said:- "A band of persistent and at times heavy rain will linger across Wales and northwest England through Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, before clearing southeast during Wednesday afternoon. This rain will be accompanied by strong and gusty winds."

It is likely that the whole of the UK will experience a change to colder conditions, with this persisting into the weekend.
