In nabouring Greater Manchester, houses where severely damaged as a small tornado collapsed roofs, ripped down walls and trees, in Tameside, at around:- 23.45, leading to Police declaring a major incident. It affected around 100 homes, but thankfully no injuries have been reported. Other areas accross the nation also got hit with flooding and damage caused by heavy rain, and power outages due to the wind, but luckily Merseyside area was less affected.

At around the time Manchester was hit with the freak tornado, residents heard huge bangs and very loud rumbling sounds, that shook windows and walls as a very noisy thunderstorm passed overhead.

We took this video of the storm, but sadly the camera could not pick up the panoramic light display and deep sounds like the human eye and ears can. Let us know if you where affected by the storm.

Did you know that Storm Gerrit was named after former NOS weatherman Gerrit Hiemstra?
