10 staff from Linaker Primary School in Southport and the wider Endeavour Learning Trust will run a 12 kilometre obstacle course in September in memory of their former colleague.

The staff, including headteacher Mark Cunniffe, are running in memory of a much-loved member of staff, Liz Cadwell, who sadly passed away during the last academic year. 

They are raising funds in her memory, which will be used to create a new bespoke reading hideaway within the early years outdoor area at school. 

This exciting addition will provide the youngest children at Linaker Primary with a dedicated space to enjoy books, stories and reading outdoors, helping to nurture a lifelong love of learning.

Staff are taking on the Born Survivor challenge in the rugged Ribble Valley this September. The 12 kilometre challenge, which includes more than 30 military-inspired obstacles, mud trenches, water crossings and climbing challenges, is 1 of the UK’s most demanding outdoor fitness events.

Making the challenge even more meaningful, the runners will be joined by the late staff member's brother, Jonathon, who currently serves in the Armed Forces. 

His decision to take part demonstrates the strength of the connections that extend beyond the school gates at Linaker, and highlights how deeply Liz was valued by those around her.

Headteacher Mark Cunniffe commented:- “Preparing for Born Survivor requires resilience, perseverance and a willingness to support one another through every challenge. Those qualities have been obvious throughout the team's training, as colleagues, friends and family members have come together with a shared goal: to create something special for future generations of Linaker children while honouring the memory of someone who meant so much to our school."

Liz’s brother Jonathon Judge said:- “Liz dedicated so much of her life to supporting and caring for others, and it means a great deal to our family to see her remembered in such a positive way. The reading hideaway will create opportunities for children to learn, imagine and enjoy books for years to come, which feels like a fitting legacy. Taking part in Born Survivor alongside the Linaker team is an honour, and I know Liz would be immensely proud of what everyone is achieving together."
