Please only attend A&E if it's a serious emergency

BOTH Whiston and Southport Hospitals are still extremely busy and have put out a request that people only attend A&E Departments if it’s a serious emergency.
For all other illnesses and injuries, visit your local UTC and use NHS 111 services for non-urgent concerns. Andy Ashton, A&E Consultant at Whiston has said:- "All of us who are on shift tonight need your help to help you. We're having an extremely busy week in our A&E Departments and we're not alone. Please only attend A&E if it’s a serious emergency. Lots of Hospitals across Cheshire and Merseyside are facing the same challenges. If you need medical help fast, please visit NHS:- 111 online, or dial:- 111. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and they will know the best service for the treatment you need. They can also book you in to be seen at your local UTC / WIC, or you can turn up without an appointment. However, for life-threatening emergencies, please dial:- 999, or go straight to A&E. By choosing the right healthcare service we can speed up help and ensure you get the right care from the right people. Thank you for your continued support and kindness." As a result, you may experience a delay in getting an Ambulance. They also ask the public to only call:- 999 in a life-threatening emergency, and use the 111.NHS.UK service for non-urgent concerns.
