Live Firing Notification - Altcar Training Camp Activity for February 2026
THE Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (NW RFCA) has released the official schedule for military activity at Altcar Training Camp for the upcoming month of February. Residents and visitors are advised to take note of specific training windows and safety signals, especially those using the South side of Formby Beach.
Firing Schedule and Training Details... According to the notification issued by Range Liaison Officer Mr. Gerry Allen, the schedule for February 2026 is as follows:- Live Firing: Scheduled to take place daily (Monday through Sunday) between:- 8 am and 3:30 pm, from:- 1 February to 28 February 2026. Dry Training - This includes:- the use of blank ammunition and pyrotechnics and may occur at any time throughout the month. Night Firing - Live night exercises may be conducted Monday through Thursday, as well as:- Friday and Saturday, provided the required notice has been given by both:- Military or Police Units. Friday Exception: Typically, Fridays are non live firing days; however, the public is cautioned that operational training may still occur at very short notice. Safety Measures and Restrictions... To ensure public safety, strict boundary restrictions will be in effect:- Danger Areas - Both Land and Sea Danger Areas will be closed to the public whenever:- RED FLAGS' or 'RED LIGHTS/LAMPS' are displayed. Airspace - An Air Danger height of:- 1,000 feet is established while the ranges are active. Monitoring - While every effort is made to stick to the:- 08 am to 3:30pm window, units may request extensions for operational reasons. All such requests are strictly monitored and only granted by the Range Liaison Officer in exceptional circumstances. COMMENTS (0)
